On atingi, you have three options on where to publish your courses: you can either make them available to all learners in the public “content library”, launch them in the non-public library and give access to a specific group of learners or launch them in the open-link library and share a specific link with a specific group of learners.
Public library
Courses that are being published in atingi’s public “content library” are usually self-paced, i.e., they don’t require moderation, manual grading or have fixed due dates. Learners should be able to work through the course at their own pace. Developing those courses requires a higher level of expertise in e-learning, because the interactivity needs to come from the content itself. The content in most public courses on atingi is developed using an authoring tool (such as ADAPT, or Articulate Rise) and integrated via SCORM. Also, since all registered atingi users can join those courses, they usually have a higher number of participants than non-public courses.
Non-public library
Courses in the non-public library are typically some kind of blended learning, train the trainers, or webinar. Here, a pre-selected group of users participates in a course that has been developed specifically for them. Usually, the courses in the non-public library should contain more elements that foster human interaction, such as webinar sessions, forum discussions, or group assignments. Often there is a clear start and end date, and a trainer is guiding the learners throughout the course. If a course is non-public, it cannot be found via the global search and learners cannot enrol themselves. Instead, this is done by the administrators via invitation method or user bulk enrolment.
Open-link library
Courses in the open-link library are especially used by partner projects whose courses are not in the public library and where conducting learner management might not be feasible. For example, when the course is relevant for a large group of people (e.g., every employee of one department), but the course managers cannot keep track of email addresses (for an invitation method). In that case, they share the course link via different channels (e.g., newsletters) and users are then able to self-enrol. This course space allows the publication of eLearning offerings while adhering to a different set of quality criteria, allowing for a more differentiated learning experience.
