What are learning programs?
A learning program combines multiple courses into a single learning program that leads to one certificate upon completion. It helps you encourage learners to continue their learning journey by taking more than one of your courses instead of stopping after the first. Learners are automatically enrolled in the learning program when they enroll in an eligible course. The learners will automatically receive an email informing them about the allocation into the learning program. Further, all courses that are part of a program have a visible notification on top of the course information area as well as a dedicated learning program page describing the program and listing all included courses. Upon completion, they receive a learning program certificate that highlights the combined skills they have gained and their total learning hours, increasing the value of the achievement while helping you improve learner engagement, course completions, and your KPIs.
When and how to use learning programs?
Learning programs are particularly effective if you want to:
- Run time-limited learning campaigns, for example to encourage learners to complete a series of courses within a specific timeframe or as part of a blended learning initiative with live training sessions.
- Create structured learning programs by grouping courses that build on each other, such as Foundation → Intermediate → Advanced levels.
- Bundle courses around a common topic, role, or skill area, giving learners a clear progression and an additional incentive to complete the full series.
- Increase learner motivation by offering recognition beyond individual course certificates. Completing a program and earning a single certificate that represents multiple courses can provide a stronger sense of achievement.
Research shows that visible milestones and intermediate recognition help learners stay motivated and are associated with higher completion rates in self-paced online learning.
Recommendations
For the best learner experience, we recommend designing programs with maximum 5–10 courses, depending on the length of each course. As a guideline, aim for a total learning time of approximately 10–20 hours. Smaller learning programs with more frequent recognition tend to keep learners engaged and lead to higher completion rates.
If you have a larger curriculum, consider splitting it into multiple programs—for example, a Foundation Program with 5–10 courses, followed by an Advanced Program with an additional 3–5 courses. This provides learners with meaningful milestones while keeping each program achievable.
Service Scope
With Learning Programs, you can combine multiple public courses into a structured learning experience that leads to an additional Learning Program Certificate upon completion. Learners continue to receive a certificate for each individual course and, once they meet the Learning Program completion requirements, they also earn a Learning Program Certificate recognizing their overall achievement.
Key features include:
- A Learning Program can combine two or more public courses
- Learners can complete courses in any order.
- Completion criteria can be configured to require all courses or a defined number of courses within the Learning Program.
- Learners are automatically enrolled in a Learning Program when they enroll in a course that is part of the Learning Program, or they can be manually added to the program. You can also set specific criteria for who should be allocated to your program (for example only women)
- Eligible learners receive notifications informing them that they are enrolled in a Learning Program.
- Learning Programs are set up for you by your Customer Success Manager.
- Once a Learning Program has been created, its structure cannot be modified. Any changes might confuse learners who have been part of the original learning program setup.
- Learning Programs are currently available for public courses only.
- A learning program overview page for learners explaining the structure of your program; you can add descriptions, video, audio and images to this page. Kindly note that this page is only visible to learners enrolled in one of the program courses. The link to this page cannot be shared externally
- For communication purposes of your learning program, you may consider using a partner page for your program which can be shared through URL to anyone and is visible also before registration/log in to atingi.
