When you develop course content that will be available to learners on atingi, you always want to protect your content from misuse and give an indication to others under which circumstances the content can be re-used in other contexts. This is what licenses are for. Since we at atingi promote re-use and localisation of content, we encourage the use of Creative Commons licenses.
Creative Commons (CC) licenses are legal tools that help you grant copyright permissions to the general public. There are six different licenses and one public domain dedication tool. It is important to specify which one of the 7 legal tools you are applying to your material.
Here is an overview of the different licenses. If you are still unsure which license to use, we recommend using the license chooser.
CC BY
CC BY-SA
CC BY-NC
CC BY-NC-SA
CC BY-ND
CC-BY-NC-ND
CC0 Public Domain
CC licenses may be applied to any type of copyrightable work. For works that are already in the public domain we recommend that you mark them with the Public Domain Mark.
On atingi, you need to at least state the license in the course description and in the metadata fields. You can also exclude single content types from the overall license of the course by indicating a different license within the resource.
